Blame it on the Brexit

The most recent survey carried out by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has suggested that the ominous dark cloud of Brexit contributed to an increased decline in inquiries, sales and instructions during December. As a result, they claim that house prices are falling at their fastest rate for six years and that predictions for first quarter sales in 2019 are the lowest since their survey began twenty years ago.

Locally, whilst it is true that there is a lack of supply of new property and that we are dealing with unusually low stock levels, we are still seeing strong buyer demand for property that is priced sensibly. Despite the West Midlands recording the strongest annual growth in house prices at the end of 2018, this is not the time for over optimistic or unrealistic asking prices. If you are considering putting your house up for sale, it is more important than ever to select an agent who has experience of selling properties in all types of market conditions and not just the good times.
